Stop Playing With Sin

Stop Playing With Sin

STOP PLAYING WITH SIN

A bold biblical teaching on compromise, temptation, repentance, holiness, obedience, and why Christians must stop protecting the sin that is destroying them.

Stop treating sin like a pet. It wants to destroy you.

This is where many Christians lose the battle.

They do not fully reject sin.

They manage it. Hide it. Excuse it. Rename it. Protect it. Then wonder why it keeps growing.

That is not wisdom.

You cannot keep feeding what God told you to kill.

Sin Never Stays Small

People love saying, “It’s just a little thing.”

But sin does not stay little.

JAMES 1:14-15 NKJV
“But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.”

Read that carefully.

Desire conceives. Sin grows. Death comes.

Sin has a process. Stop defending the beginning and pretending the ending will never come.

“God Understands” Is Not A License

People love saying:

  • • “God knows my heart.”
  • • “God understands.”
  • • “Nobody is perfect.”
  • • “I’m still growing.”
  • • “At least I’m trying.”

But many are not trying.

They are excusing.

ROMANS 6:1-2 NKJV
“What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?”

Grace is not permission to continue in sin.

Grace teaches you to leave sin.

Stop using God’s mercy as a cover for your rebellion.

Stop Calling Compromise A Struggle

There is a difference between struggling against sin and protecting sin.

A person struggling against sin fights it.

A person protecting sin keeps access to it.

  • • keeping the app
  • • keeping the secret account
  • • keeping the relationship
  • • keeping the alcohol
  • • keeping the music
  • • keeping the bitterness
  • • keeping the door open
If you keep protecting access to sin, stop pretending you are serious about leaving it.

You Must Cut It Off

MATTHEW 5:29-30 NKJV
“If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you... And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you...”

Jesus did not speak softly about sin.

He showed the seriousness of removing what pulls you away from God.

Some people refuse to cut anything off.

They want holiness without separation.

You cannot walk with God while holding hands with what keeps pulling you back to sin.

Sin Hardens The Heart

HEBREWS 3:13 NKJV
“But exhort one another daily, while it is called ‘Today,’ lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.”

Sin deceives.

Then it hardens.

At first, you feel convicted.

Then you feel less convicted.

Then you start defending what once bothered you.

The danger is not only that you sin. The danger is that sin slowly teaches you to stop caring.

Flee Instead Of Flirting

1 CORINTHIANS 6:18 NKJV
“Flee sexual immorality...”

The Bible does not say flirt with temptation.

It says flee.

This applies to lust, pride, drunkenness, anger, greed, bitterness, and every sin trying to rule you.

You do not prove strength by standing close to sin. You prove wisdom by running from it.

Repentance Means Turning

Many people feel bad after sin.

Then they go right back.

That is not the same as repentance.

ACTS 3:19 NKJV
“Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out...”

Repentance is not just guilt.

Repentance is turning.

Many people want forgiveness without separation from sin.

You Cannot Serve Two Masters

MATTHEW 6:24 NKJV
“No one can serve two masters...”

Some people want Christ and compromise.

Obedience and rebellion.

Holiness and hidden sin.

That does not work.

If sin owns your obedience, do not pretend Christ has your surrender.

Final Charge

Stop playing with sin.

Stop feeding what is killing you.

Stop protecting access to the thing you claim you want freedom from.

Repent. Cut it off. Flee. Obey God.

You do not defeat sin by negotiating with it. You defeat sin by obeying God and starving what keeps pulling you away.

Do it today.

Before your heart gets harder.
