Your Flesh Is Not Your Friend

Your Flesh Is Not Your Friend

⚔️ THE BOLD CHRISTIAN

YOUR FLESH IS NOT YOUR FRIEND

A bold biblical teaching on the sinful nature of the flesh, emotional living, temptation, self-control, spiritual warfare, and why Christians must stop trusting feelings over obedience.

Your flesh will ruin your life if you keep obeying it.

Modern culture constantly teaches people:

  • • “Follow your heart.”
  • • “Do what feels right.”
  • • “Live your truth.”
  • • “Trust your feelings.”

But scripture repeatedly warns that the flesh is dangerous.

Many people say: “Follow your heart.” Scripture says: “Deny yourself.”

Modern Culture Worships Feelings

Modern culture treats feelings like truth.

If people feel something strongly enough, they assume it must be right.

But feelings are not automatically trustworthy.

Your feelings can lie to you.

People feel:

  • • lust
  • • anger
  • • jealousy
  • • laziness
  • • pride
  • • selfish desires

Feeling something does not make it righteous.

The Flesh Wants What Is Sinful

GALATIANS 5:16-17 NKJV
“Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit...”

The flesh naturally pulls people toward sin.

The flesh wants:

  • • pleasure without consequences
  • • comfort without discipline
  • • selfishness without sacrifice
  • • lust without restraint
  • • emotions without wisdom
The flesh will always choose comfort over holiness.

Your Feelings Are Not Always Right

Many people destroy their lives because they constantly obey emotions instead of wisdom.

People say:

  • • “I felt angry.”
  • • “I felt lonely.”
  • • “I felt tempted.”
  • • “I felt unhappy.”

Then they use feelings to justify sinful decisions.

A man ruled by emotions becomes easy to control spiritually.
Self-control matters because feelings change constantly.

The Flesh Hates Discipline

The flesh hates:

  • • prayer
  • • fasting
  • • obedience
  • • self-control
  • • discipline
  • • responsibility
  • • spiritual seriousness

The flesh constantly wants the easy path.

The flesh wants pleasure now. Discipline builds strength later.

Christians Must Deny Themselves

LUKE 9:23 NKJV
“If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.”

Jesus did not say: “Follow your feelings.”

He said: “Deny yourself.”

Biblical Christianity requires self-control, sacrifice, discipline, and obedience.

Weak Christianity worships feelings. Strong Christianity crucifies the flesh.

Stop Trusting Everything You Feel

Not every desire deserves obedience.

Not every emotion deserves action.

Not every feeling deserves agreement.

Some feelings must be resisted.

Your flesh is not trying to lead you toward holiness.

It constantly pulls people toward compromise, weakness, distraction, and sin.

Final Charge

Stop following every feeling.

Stop obeying every desire.

Stop trusting your flesh more than scripture.

Build discipline.

Fight temptation.

Walk in self-control.

Live by the Spirit.

The flesh makes an excellent servant. It makes a terrible master.

Feed your spirit more than your emotions.

Obey God more than your feelings.
