Many people claim Jesus while speaking exactly like the world around them.

Speech matters to God.

The words that come out of a person reveal what is inside their heart.

MATTHEW 12:34 NKJV
“For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.”
A changed heart should produce changed speech.

Corrupt Communication Warning

EPHESIANS 4:29 NKJV
“Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification...”

Scripture does not tell Christians to sound like the world.

It tells Christians to speak words that build up instead of corrupt.

Many people defend speech that scripture never encourages.

Filthy Language According To Scripture

COLOSSIANS 3:8 NKJV
“But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth.”

The Bible directly addresses filthy language.

This is not merely about “intent.”

Christians are called to holiness in conduct and speech.

Holiness should affect the mouth too.

“But Those Are Just Words

Many people minimize vulgar speech by saying:

“They are just words.”

But scripture repeatedly teaches that words matter deeply.

MATTHEW 12:36 NKJV
“But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment.”

God does not treat speech lightly.

Self-Control Matters

Many people cuss out of anger, frustration, pride, or lack of discipline.

GALATIANS 5:22-23 NKJV
“But the fruit of the Spirit is... self-control.”
A Christian should not sound exactly like someone living in the flesh.

Followers of Christ are called to discipline their speech instead of letting emotions control the mouth.

The Real Issue

The real issue is not:

“How close can I get to worldly speech?”

The real question is:

“Does my speech glorify God?”

Christians should desire speech that reflects holiness, wisdom, discipline, purity, and maturity.

Final Charge

Stop letting culture shape your mouth.

Let scripture shape it instead.

A Christian should not sound identical to the world around them.

Your words reveal your heart.

Followers of Christ are called to purity, discipline, holiness, and self-control — including in speech.
