True Christianity Only Leads One Way

There is so much confusion in the world with all the religions and sects and cults that exist. How do you even know what is even true anymore?

I believe, with all my being, that the Christian faith is the true and only faith that matters. I have studied many other religions and the more I read the Christian Bible, the more convinced I am that this is the real truth, the real deal.

I grew up Catholic. Over the past 25 years or so, I have questioned my faith to the point that I had a burning desire to know the Real Truth. I have read the entire Hindu Bhagavad Gita, the Satanic Bible from Anton LaVey, the Scientology book called Dianetics from L. Ron Hubbard, I have studied Buddhism, Islam, Zoroastrianism and a few others. I had also considered myself an Atheist due to the absolute LIE of evolution.

I did all of this before I ever even read the Christian Bible. Seems strange, but that is a HUGE problem in the Christian faith. Very few people actually read what they confess to believe. I have since read it multiple times and it has really opened my eyes in a very profound way!

Mahatma Gandhi once wrote: “I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.”

He was right then and is still right now. I can absolutely understand why people have such a hard time with Christianity. The problem is that the VAST majority of people who claim to be Christians have never even read the Bible. They go to church on Sundays and live like Hell the rest of the week. Unfortunately, that is what most people see. That is not TRUE Christianity.

Someone once said to me, after being involve in Kabbalah for several years, that they got more out of that than they ever got from Christianity. Well, I bet that is true for him. In fact, I have seen much growth and maturity from this individual, so I don’t doubt that Kabbalah has had an impact in his life. He grew up a Catholic, the same as I did and didn’t get anything out of it. Whose to blame? His parents? The Church? Himself? God? I can’t really answer that question for him, since I have not had his experiences. I can tell you that he cannot blame God. No one can. They often do and in the past I have too, but that is because they misunderstand their circumstances.

We live in a fallen world, as I have explained in the Why does God allow suffering? How can a loving God allow Cancer? article. So why do we live in a fallen world and who is to blame for it? Well, we live in a fallen world because WE chose to disobey God. So we do have ourselves to blame in part, but there is another that deserves blame. That person is Lucifer, Satan, the devil, the evil one, the Prince of Darkness, the great dragon, the serpent, etc.

If Satan never tempted Adam and Eve, then we would not have sin in the world today. Satan is to blame for all of this and he will get what is coming to him, in the end times. (of which I believe we are either in or very close to)

Satan is also the reason there are even religions at all today. He is the master of confusion. He is the Father of lies. He has done everything in his power to try and stop God from bringing his people to himself. Satan has used religion to cause separation and strife in the lives of so many throughout the ages. He has caused religious wars and persecution of believers. He has caused you and me to doubt our beliefs on an ongoing basis. He has put us through Hell on Earth to try and make us blame God for it all.

He has failed! He will not win! He has been cast out of Heaven! He will be thrown into the Abyss and then after another tour following the millennium, he will be thrown into Hell for the rest of eternity, along with all of his fallen angels and the people he was able to keep from God. He will win many battles, but he will ultimately lose the war. Amen!

Praise God!!

That’s all well and good, but it still doesn’t tell us why Christianity is right and everything else is wrong. You’re right, it doesn’t.

God knew that man himself would not be able to overcome Satan and death. He knew that only he himself could be victorious. He knew that he alone would have to come to Earth, zip up a human suit, and walk among us, to teach us how to be true believers. Only he could save us from Satan and ourselves. So he did.

God became a man and walked among us as Jesus, The Jewish Messiah foretold in the scriptures. He didn’t come to give us a better life. He never promised that. In fact, he told us it would be harder.

Matthew 5:11 “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.”

Matthew 10:22
“All men will hate you because of me, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved.”

Matthew 24:9
“Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me.”

Mark 13:13
“All men will hate you because of me, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved.”

Luke 21:17
“All men will hate you because of me.”

No, Christianity isn’t easy, it’s hard! Only the true Men and Women of Faith will prevail. Only those planted on the solid rock of Jesus will make it to Heaven.

So, when someone tells you that Christianity will make your life easier, they don’t know what they are talking about. If that is their idea of evangelizing, then they won’t have much retention when life gets tough for their converts.

But it’s not entirely their fault. Nope. That’s how they were taught. It’s easy to say Jesus will make your life better. It is hard to say that believing in Jesus will make your life tougher. Jesus himself said it would be and it certainly has been for me.

Yes, Jesus came to teach us how to live properly and yes he does love you more than life itself, remember he gave up his life for you, but that was not the main purpose of his coming.

He came to save you from a certain an inescapable death, that we brought on ourselves.

So because of God’s sacrifice through Jesus, we don’t just need to believe in him, but we need to put him on and wear him around with us wherever we go. Let me give you an example expressed by Ray Comfort in his book Hells Best Kept Secret:

Scenario A: There is a passenger in an airplane and a Christian Stewardess approaches him with a parachute. She explains that if he wears this parachute that it will improve his flight. So he immediately puts the parachute on. When he sits down, he realizes that the parachute makes it very uncomfortable to sit properly without hunching over, but he believes what the Stewardess says and continues to sit. Getting his seat belt on proves difficult too, but he persists. After a few minutes he notices some other people on the plane pointing and laughing at him. He begins to get a little embarrassed at this point and starts questioning what the Stewardess claimed.  Now the laughter is spreading throughout the plane and people are now making blatant fun of him. At this point, he has had enough. He struggles to unbuckle his seat belt, stands up and rips the parachute off, throwing it to the ground. He sits back down, resolving never to put the parachute back on. He is disgruntled, embarrassed and angry at the Stewardess that promised him a better flight.

Scenario B: Same passenger, same plane, same Stewardess. This time the Christian Stewardess approaches the man and says, you need to put this parachute on, because this plane is having a lot of problems and I was told by the Pilot that it is going to crash over the Ocean. Again, without hesitation the passenger puts the parachute on. He has the same struggles with his seat belt and still needs to hunch over to sit down. The same passengers begin pointing and laughing at him, but this time he ignores them, because he knows something they do not. When his situation spreads out across the entire plane and everyone is pointing and laughing at him. He does become a little embarrassed and even a bit angry, but this just causes him to hold on to the parachute even harder. He wouldn’t give the parachute up for anything in the known world, because he knows that he needs the parachute to save his life.

So, in the same way you would use a parachute to save your life, you need to put on the Lord Jesus, turn from sin and let as many people as you can, know that we are heading for a crash and only he can save your life.

So why is Christianity the only true religion?

Because this is the only religion where God himself came down to save you. ALL other religions require you to try and save yourself, which is not in the least even possible.

There is little doubt, in my mind, that you have heard John 3:16, but it may be unlikely that you have read the verses following it.

John 3:16-21 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God.”

He also TOLD us, that there is NO other way to get to Heaven:

John 14:6 Jesus answered, “I am The Way and The Truth and The Life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

So True Christianity isn’t about spreading ONLY God’s love to one another or trying to improve our life here on Earth. We need to put on the Lord Jesus, repent and turn from our sinful nature, read his word and obey it and share this truth with others.

You will be laughed at, you will be ridiculed, you may even be persecuted or even killed, but that doesn’t matter, because you are saved and will live with Jesus in Heaven for the rest of Eternity!

Isiah 51:7-8 “Hear me, you who know what is right, you people who have my law in your hearts: Do not fear the reproach of men or be terrified by their insults. For the moth will eat them up like a garment; the worm will devour them like wool. But my righteousness will last forever, my salvation through all generations.”

Matthew 10:28 “Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.”

It is for this reason that we can be BOLD as we proclaim Jesus as Lord and Savior of ALL. Amen!

  1. Joe,

Thanks for the great article! You have encouraged and edified me especially as I face the Easter holiday. My husband and I don’t want our youngest child to participate in the family egg hunt, and I wasn’t looking forward to explaining “why?” again, until I read your post. Now I say, bring it on!

    Love in Christ,

  2. Hello Heather,

Sorry for the long delay in responding.

I feel blessed that this article helped you and I really appreciate you responding to let me know. I hope that you were able to speak to your son successfully and that he understood your reasoning.

    God Bless!

  3. Have you ever met a true Christian? Have you ever attended a church full of true Christians? Are you sure? What is it that makes a person truly Christian?

    • Hello Hosting,

To answer your first question, YES, I have met many True Christians. To your second question, NO, the churches I have been associated with have people at all levels of Christianity. So there are some that do not truly understand what it means to be a Christian and there are others that are far more mature in the faith than I am and I would consider them True Christians. That being said, I do not know the heart of any person, so to even say that the people I consider mature in the Faith are True Christians would be an educated guess at best, although the way they live their lives does bear fruit consistent with the way a True Christian would, so I feel safe in my assertions and can say that I am sure. On your final question, I was hoping that this very article answered it, but if you have more specific questions about what it is that makes a person truly Christian, then please ask them here and I will do my best to answer it myself, or consult with other True Christians to get you an accurate answer.

Thank you for taking the time to post and God Bless you!

      Joe Austin
      The BOLD Christian
