The short answer is Yes. There is, and can be, Only One Way to Heaven.
First a little background:
The Truth is the Truth and it is NOTHING else. A partial or half truth is still utterly false. There is no falseness in truth, because that would make it immediately and completely false. You cannot add anything to the truth, because it is already the truth and anything additional would render it false.
For those Engineers in the crowd, here is a simple logic table for an “Exclusive AND Gate”, where each digit represents the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit respectively: (All of which are God in separate forms, but still ONE God)
111 = 1 = True
110 = 0 = False
101 = 0 = False
100 = 0 = False
000 = 0 = False
(All other iterations also produce a False result)
The only combination that produces the Truth is when all three pieces of the Godhead are present. If any of the pieces are missing, then you are looking at a false religion.
In the Jesus Is The Truth article, we explained how only God could possibly be the truth. He is the only being that is perfect in every way. Everyone else falls short of perfection and is therefore flawed.
Since we are flawed, we simply are not perfect. The problem is that God will only allow perfect people in to Heaven.
Matt 5:20 – “For I tell you, unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven”
Matt 5:48 – “You, therefore, must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.”
What?! How can that be? If that is the case then there is NO hope, right?!
Glad you asked!!
The misunderstanding, that us flawed humans have, is that we think we can become perfect on our own. We try to do good things and help others. We sometimes give to the poor or we edify someone by publicly praising them in front of others. We use proper etiquette and manners when visiting or hosting guests. We might help someone fix their car or their computer or what have you and the list goes on and on.
Please don’t get me wrong here, all of these things are wonderful and we should do them, because they are the right thing to do. The issue is that these things will not get you in to Heaven.
Being a good person simply isn’t going to cut it. In fact, no matter how hard we try, we can’t even get close to being GOOD.
The word GOOD is define as “being perfect in thought, word and deed”. No doubt you will find many watered down definitions on the web or in a modern dictionary, but this is the real meaning.
Here is where some of you may be offended. Please understand that I have complete respect for where you are in your life and that it is not me that is offending you, it is the truth that is in opposition to your current beliefs that causes the strife.
I know what it means to hold tight to your beliefs and to be offended when the truth comes to light. The truth has smacked me upside the head on many occasions and continues to do so. Sometimes that’s what it takes to open your eyes. Please try to see this with an open mind as I am only the messenger so, your issue is with God.
Most other religions teach that you CAN be saved by doing good works. The type of works are different depending on their particular beliefs. Hindus and Buddhists worship idols or images, where Muslims believe in a god, but do not believe that Jesus is the one they’ve been waiting for. The Jewish people are in a similar boat to the Muslims here, but they do believe in the same God as the Christians.
It is beyond the scope of this article to get into much detail here, so it will have to suffice to say: Do not be fooled, the Muslim god is NOT the same as the God of the Bible. I will address this in a future article. There are just too many differences that conflict between the two.
This is not meant to insult the Muslim people or the people of any other religion for their current beliefs, because everyone has the same opportunity to get to Heaven as anyone else does.
The point is, that in every other religion, YOU have to do something to save yourself and get in to Heaven.
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God
Regardless of your professed religion, we have already seen that none of us are GOOD. Not one of us is perfect in thought, word or deed. We simply are not able to be this way. I defer again to the Jesus Is The Truth article for more details about this.
There was a time and there will be again, when we will be perfect. It is not something we can do on our own. Only God is perfect and only God can make us perfect.
God himself came down to Earth, in the form of a man and we know him as Jesus. It was foretold in the OLD (First) Testament with over 300 prophecies of the coming Messiah.
For any one man to fulfill just eight of these prophecies would be astronomical. Jesus fulfilled all of them. It is written so that no-one could deny it. Do a Google search on “the probability of Jesus being the Messiah”, if you’re interested in real numbers.
Simply put, it could not possibly have been anyone else, before or after, Jesus walked the Earth.
Professor Emeritus of Science at Westmont College, Peter Stoner once said that “Any man who rejects Christ as the Son of God is rejecting a fact, proved perhaps more absolutely than any other fact in the world”.
Only God could have foretold of himself coming down to Earth to do for us, what we could NEVER do for ourselves. There are many other prophecies written that have also come true and will yet still, that gives more credibility to the Bible as a whole, than any other book ever written.
Now that we have established that ONLY God can make us perfect, we need to take the next step and Believe that he did just that. When he came down from Heaven and took our place on that Cross, he made us perfect.
The gate to Heaven is open and all you have to do is to sincerely accept Jesus into your heart, turn away from your sins and follow him.
Colossians 1:27-29 – “To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. We proclaim him, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone PERFECT in Christ. To this end I labor, struggling with all his energy, which so powerfully works in me.”
Unfortunately, not everyone will believe this truth, while they are still able to do anything about it, but they WILL believe it when they are subject to the coming judgement from a Just and Loving God.
They have already had innumerable chances to turn from their sins and follow Jesus, so no-one will have an excuse and no-one will be excused.
Is this a scare tactic? Not at all! If you are afraid of the truth, then it is your own inward guilt that is scaring you. If you feel that way, then maybe you need to re-evaluate yourself sooner, rather than later.
No one knows the day that they will be called away from this Earth, so be ready.
Matthew 7:13-14 – “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.”
So, can there be more than Only One Way to Heaven?
There simply cannot be.
