Proverbs Challenge App Logo

Proverbs Challenge

The book of Proverbs! Challenge yourself to read a chapter a day for a year or more. You won’t be sorry! Proverbs was written mostly by the wisest man to ever live, King Solomon. He teaches you how to live and conduct yourself on a daily basis, to keep you out of harms way and how to prosper in everything you do! Hundreds of subjects are taught about, with the wisdom that could only have been inspired by God himself!

It’s been quite a while since I last posted anything on this site, but rest assured, I have not been idle. In collaboration with my other company, Potentials Unleashed, an IT company, we have come up with a mobile app that currently works on the Android platform. The app has been released on the Amazon App Store and is available to download now!

It is free, but it is ad supported, to help with the cost of development.

It does work on the Kindle devices as well, but for some reason Amazon thinks it doesn’t, so it doesn’t show as available there, but you can download it onto your Kindle from the Potentials Unleashed website, located here: Proverbs Challenge

There are two download links on the site and the one you want for the Kindle is the link next to the word APP and not Amazon. This will be fixed soon, but in the meantime, it is safe to download the app from the website instead. All other Android devices, should be fine through the Amazon App Store.

You can download it from the Amazon App Store.

Here is a list of the current features:

  • Automatically loads the chapter matching today’s date.
  • Reads the scripture to you, if you want it to, so you can follow along.
  • Set the audio to cycle, so the chapter is read over and over again. Great for memorizing!
  • Choose a different chapter, if you want to read more.
  • Pause and Resume features, if you need to take a break.
  • Ad supported – Ad-free version coming soon!
  • More to come!

If you have any suggestions for additional features or find something not working quite right, please contact us at The Bold Christian.

Thank you and God Bless!!

The World

The World: A Massive Mission Opportunity For You

This website has been seen in over 100 countries, since it’s inception in July of 2009, according to Google’s Analytics. I don’t say that to brag, I say that so anyone willing to write articles for The BOLD Christian can see that their message will be seen by many people all over the world.

Have you ever wanted to be a missionary, but weren’t able to for one reason or another?
Have you ever thought of building your own website so that your articles could reach those who need to hear the Gospel?

It is for these reasons that  I created this website. As mentioned in Our Ongoing Trial entry, I have a very disabled child, which prevents me from going into the mission field and away from my family for any length of time, but I do have a passion to reach the lost and to help them find their way back home. Especially those who think they are going to Heaven and don’t know they’re lost and will not be going there.

I approached a friend of mine, at church, and asked him if he would be willing to write an article for the site and he agreed to consider it. He also gave me permission to link to any entry on his blog that I would like to share.

I am hoping that this is the start of a World Wide Mission to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Please check out the following articles, written by my friend in Christ, Peter Dearing:

God Answers My Prayer, the Same Afternoon

A Personal Lesson

Like many of us, Peter has suffered through many ordeals, but his steadfast love of Jesus has lead him to dive deeper into the Word Of God (Bible), to see what it is he needs to learn. On his blog, he shares his lessons with us. I have been blessed to read them and you will too.

If anyone out there would like to write an article that may be seen around the world, please feel free to contact me.

God Bless!!

The Jesus Football League

The Jesus Football League

Obviously, we have a passion for Jesus. This site wouldn’t exist if we didn’t. We also have, to a lesser degree, a passion for the NFL, with my favorite team being the New England Patriots. Since the NFL and the Patriot logos are trademarked and copyrighted, we cannot use them on any products that are available on this site. So with that in mind, we created a logo that combines both of my passions and called it The Jesus Football League. There are no real teams and there is no real football being played, but this is a way to promote both of my passions at the same time.

Check out these and other items on our Product Pages!

The purpose of this post is really just to point out the product pages that show off all the products that we have designed so far and to let you know that we can create many, many more custom products. There are literally hundreds of possible products to choose from.

If you have a favorite Christian Symbol or a Saying or a Bible Verse that you would like to see on a shirt, mug, mouse pad or what have you, then please feel free to contact us and we will gladly create the item for you. If your product requires an image, then feel free to send the image directly to me at jhaustin@theboldchristian.com.

For now, please take a look at our product pages to see what is possible.

Sales of any products on this site go towards the upkeep and hosting fees associated with running a web-based business. All transactions are handled on the manufacture’s secure website, so you can be sure that your credit card information will be safe.

Thank you!!

A Gift From God, To God - Special Needs Children

A Gift From God, To God – Special Needs Children

This topic hits home for me. I have four children, two of which have severe special needs. My oldest child was born in 1991 and he had a stroke when he was a few days old that has caused him to be extremely delayed mentally. He looks normal, he can walk and he speaks articulately and within a short time you would be aware that he has challenges. Some of them are obvious and others only reveal themselves after getting to know him.

He has been diagnosed with Epilepsy, Pervasive Developmental Disorder – Not Otherwise Specified (PDD NOS), Anti Thrombin III deficiency(AT3), which is a blood clotting disorder that probably caused the initial stroke, and he has been tested many, many times with the determination that he is mentally retarded. He reads at a Kindergarten level with mostly inconsistent results.

In spite of his issues, he is a very generous and caring young man. Anytime someone is at our house visiting, he offers food or drink, whether we have it or not to give. He is constantly trying to help with his siblings and us parents to the point where we almost have to tell him to stop. Since he struggles to read, he has learned to build just about anything with Tinker Toys, or similar toys, simply by examining the pictures that came in the instructions.

My youngest child was born in 2008 and he also suffered a stroke a day or two after birth, again caused by the AT3 deficiency that he also inherited. A few days later, he suffered another stroke on the other side of his brain. He was born 2 months premature, because my Wife had severe preeclampsia and had to deliver right away or she would not have made it through the rest of the pregnancy. He has spent many days in and out of the hospital and we expect that this will continue for the rest of his life. He has been diagnosed with, among other things, Spastic Quadriplegia Cerebral Palsy. He is not able to walk or talk and can’t even sit up on his own. He has a feeding tube, because he cannot eat by mouth and he is on oxygen, through a ventilator attached to his tracheostomy, to assist with his blood saturation levels. He has many other issues as well, that we are dealing with, and so the above information is enough to get to my point. You can read a more detailed story about him on the Our Ongoing Trial page.

When I was 13, my Mother worked for an institution where people put their children that were suffering from various forms of special needs. We would often visit her there and got acquainted with many of the”patients” that were living there. It touched me so much, that I prayed to God to give me a special needs child, when I was old enough to be married. I completely forgot about that prayer until my first child was born. There is much more to what happened next, so for now we can just say that, God did not forget and he answers prayer.

Shortly before my Wife began getting sick, while pregnant with our youngest child, my oldest child approached her and told her that he had prayed that God would give him a brother “Just Like Him”. What do you say to that? My Wife responded that God knows best and that we will see what happens. As you may have guessed, God answered his prayer too.

You see, God did not create the universe, as we know it, and then abandon his creation. He is very much involved in our lives and answering prayers. Neither I nor my son knew just how difficult having a special needs child can be, but God knows and he provided the exact person that we needed to have in our lives. He provided me with the perfect Wife and my sons with the perfect Mother. I am not saying that my Wife is perfect, but she is perfect for me and my children.

After all of the above, I now get to my point:

Neither of my special needs children will ever be able to make a choice to either follow their own sinful nature or to follow God, through the sacrifice of his own son Jesus. Therefore, since they cannot make that choice, they are automatically going to Heaven when their time here is finished.

Knowing this, how can I or anyone else possibly turn against God, when we have a child that suffers from anything?

These children are simply a Gift from God, to God. We are just the blessed family that got to take care of them while they were here.

God bless and thanks for reading.

The Spirit Of Truth

The Spirit Of Truth

What is our purpose?

The chief end of man is to Glorify God and to enjoy him for ever.

1 Colossians 10:31 Then whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all things to the glory of God.

Why did God place Love above all else?

If you are busy loving on people then you have no time to fight with them. Jesus said that the greatest commandment is the first, followed by the second.

Matthew 22:36-40 Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law? And Jesus said to him, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.”

Deuteronomy 6:5 This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.

Leviticus 19:18 On these two commandments all the Law and the Prophets hang.

So what happens when you follow the first commandment?

John 14:15-21 If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will petition the Father, and He will give you another Comforter, that He may remain with you to the age, the Spirit of Truth, whom the world cannot receive because it does not see Him nor know Him. But you know Him, for He abides with you and shall be in you. I will not leave you orphans; I am coming to you. Yet a little while and the world no longer sees Me, but you see Me. Because I live, you also shall live. In that day you shall know that I am in My Father, and you are in Me, and I am in you. He that has My commandments and keeps them, it is that one who loves Me; and the one that loves Me shall be loved by My Father, and I shall love him and will reveal Myself to him.

By loving Jesus, who is God, as the first commandment tells us, he will give to us a Comforter, the Spirit of Truth. This Spirit of the Holy living God will dwell within us.

What is the job of the Holy Spirit of Truth?

John 16:7-15 But I tell you the truth, it is advantageous for you that I should go; for if I do not go away, the Comforter will not come to you. But if I go, I will send Him to you. And having come, that One will convict the world concerning sin, and concerning righteousness, and concerning judgment.Concerning sin, because they do not believe into Me; and concerning righteousness, because I am going to the Father, and you no longer see Me;and concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world has been judged. I have yet many things to tell you, but you are not able to bear now. But when that One comes, the Spirit of Truth, He will guide you into all Truth, for He will not speak from Himself, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will announce the coming things to you. That One will glorify Me, for He will receive from Mine and will announce to you. All things which the Father has are Mine. For this reason I said that He receives from Mine, and will announce to you.

So, if the chief end of man is to glorify God and the first and second commandments are the best way to do this, then why don’t most people embrace the gift that was given to us, by God, because of this very thing?

Only by equipping The Holy Spirit of Truth, with the Holy Word of God, can he do what he was sent to do. It is not up to God’s people to judge and condemn others, with their own understanding. It is up to, an equipped, Holy Spirit to change us from within. An un-equipped Holy Spirit lies dormant in those that do not learn God’s word. Even worse than this, when you try to show these people the Truth in Love, they can get very defensive and deny that there is a problem. I am strictly speaking of people that claim to be Christians and do attend church regularly. I believe this is part of Satan’s plan and will get worse as time goes by, as predicted in Revelation, and called the apostasy of the church. It is prevalent in many churches today.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 All Scripture is God-breathed, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be perfected, thoroughly furnished to every good work.

If the above scripture passage is true, and I believe it is, then we as Christians have a responsibility to those young in the faith. We must bring the scriptures to them in a loving way and never force it upon them, as this can have disastrous results. By living and giving and showing our fellow believers the Truth In Love, through the word of Jesus Christ, we can help equip them to protect their faith, so that they can bring Glory to God.
